Confusion about words
Paul Graham of YC/Hackernews fame posted an interesting idea awhile back now:
Philosophy is mostly confusion about words.
Interesting, because I immediately was reminded of a first year course involving Peter Sloterdijk, who indeed seemed to be doing not much more than tumbling over words. To me, he seemed more an artist in verbosity than a great thinker. Of course that’s not exactly fair, as a reader kindly wrote down for us. There are other branches of philosophy, such as ethics, which have a more clear use and are more clear across the board now that I think about it.
